Pray for Our Ministries
Updated April 2026
Thanks for praying with us!
As we engage in ministry across Myanmar, Thailand, and Eastern Congo, we depend on God’s guidance and provision. This prayer guide shares specific ways you can partner with us in prayer for these regions and initiatives.
Myanmar
God’s intervention in the deteriorating situation in Myanmar, where the military continues to bomb its own people in the rural areas, where 3.5 million people are now IDPs (internally displaced people). Six to eight thousand civilians have been killed and 20,000 are still imprisoned since the coup on February 1, 2021. Up to 5000 young men (ages 18-35) are being conscripted each month to fight for the junta. Now, with war with Iran, oil and gas are becoming scarce through SE Asia.
Freedom and means for 11 MIT students to travel outside Myanmar to participate in an intensive exegetical class on Philippians to be conducted in Chiang Mai, Thailand in May).
Planning for a second intensive seminar for 8-10 MIT pastoral theology students in October.
Pastor Dave Van and the small church of 135 people that he shepherds, who have been forced to live in the jungles near Falam in western Myanmar since last November. They fled their village due the approaching Myanmar army and bombing by fighter jets. They need rice, shelter, raincoats, and other resources to survive indefinitely under horrible conditions.
Thailand
Adequate food and access to medical supplies and care for the 100,000 or so refugees living in the nine refugee camps along the Thai-Myanmar border.
Opportunities for Bible school teachers in the refugee camps to go for further education, since many of them only have a Bible school degree.
Wisdom, guidance, and open doors as Tim continues to seek God’s guidance for how to best serve refugees and church leaders in Thailand, and how assess the cost-benefits of multiple trips to Thailand each year.
Open door for Tim to teach faculty members at Siloam Bible School in Chiang Mai, and God’s leading for continued collaboration with Rev. Yo Aye La, General Secretary of the Thai Karen Baptist Convention (TKBC) to provide teaching of teachers in their two Bible schools.
Eastern Congo
Relief for the millions of endangered, destitute, and suffering people throughout North and South Kivu (Eastern Congo), where over 5.7 million are internally displaced and some 25-27 million require humanitarian assistance—currently the largest humanitarian emergency in the world.
Freedom and safety for the people of Goma (capital of North Kivu) and Bukavu (capital of South Kivu), still under the control of the M23 rebel group; resolution to banking crisis in these key cities for the sake of the people and FHLGM’s ability to safely get our money into the country to pay staff, conduct our online programs, and to provide humanitarian assistance for the pastors we’re serving
God’s provision of a capable coordinator in Butembo and Béni, so that we can resume monthly webinars there in conjunction with what we’re offering in Goma and Bukavu online
Safety in distributing the new books translated into Swahili in the rural areas where the poverty and need are the greatest.
One week of online teaching “The Spirit-Led Leadership” for Congolese students through the Christian university (ULPGL) in Goma in May.
Writing, Videos, and Web Resources
Continued inspiration and blessing on Tim’s writing and the translation of his articles into Burmese, French, and Swahili for distribution throughout Myanmar and Eastern Congo.
Marketing and promotion of FHLGM’s new website to reach more people who could benefit from our videos, books, articles, sermons, and other resources.
